In late September, Ryan Griffin wasn’t sure when he would play football again. The Tulane senior suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder in a loss to Tulsa, forcing him to miss the next three games.
In late October, he has answered any doubts about his recovery. Against UAB on Saturday in New Orleans, he completed 34 of 42 passes for 466 yards and five touchdowns as the Green Wave beat the Blazers in a shootout, 55-45.
For his performance, Griffin has been named the NRA/Lindy’s Gunslinger of the Week.
Griffin set the all-time Tulane single game record for passing yards, continuing his hot streak since returning from the injury. In the last three games, he has passed for 1,131 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Throughout the 2012 season, the top passing performance in college football each week will be honored with this recognition from the National Rifle Association and Lindy’s Sports. At the end of the season, the NRA/Lindy’s National Gunslinger of the Year will be named.
