Los Angeles Clippers forward will miss the first few weeks of the season with a bone bruise on his right knee.

Coach Vinny Del Negro said on MRI on Hill’s knee showed the injury, the Orange County Register reported Tuesday.

Hill said Monday his injury will keep him out “at least a couple of weeks.”

The 17-year veteran was competing for a job as starting shooting guard with Matt Barnes and Willie Green. However, Hill has not played in a preseason since the team returned from two preseason games in China.

Hill, 40, played the past five seasons with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 10.2 points in 49 games last season. He signed a two-year free-agent contract with the Clippers during the offseason for $1.9 million a season.
