Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron disputed reports that he had a torn meniscus in his right knee.
“Rumors are rumors,” he told reporters after practicing Tuesday for the second day in a row despite a bruised right knee. “I feel good. Ready to go.”
McCarron, a junior, was hurt Saturday during the top-ranked Crimson Tide’s 42-10 road victory over Missouri. He was injured in the third quarter but returned after missing minimal action.
“Anytime you think something goes wrong, you’re going to be nervous for a minute,” he said. “But I trust my trainers and team doctors. They made the right call. They know what’s wrong with it and what happened. And I went back out there and played.”
McCarron and the Tide (6-0, 3-0 SEC) play at Tennessee (3-3, 0-3 SEC) on Saturday in the first game after Alabama was ranked No. 1 in the season’s first Bowl Championship Series standings.
“It’s a very fun place to play,” McCarron said of Tennessee, according to the Birmingham News. “Lot of tradition. I mean, a very historic program. They’re a great team. Coach (Derek) Dooley’s done a great job with that program. I’ve gotten to know some guys up there, become friends with some guys, so it’s going to be fun to get back up there and have a good game.”
