The New York Giants are hopeful that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will be able to play Sunday against San Francisco after he practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
Nicks has missed the past three games because of knee and foot injuries.
“Got a chance to test it out a little bit,” Nicks told reporters after practice. “The defining moment will be tomorrow, when I do a little bit more than individual (work) and see if I’m able to compete.”
Nicks hasn’t played since Week 2 against Tampa Bay. He has 14 catches for 237 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Coach Tom Coughlin told reporters that he’s concerned about Nicks’ rustiness.
“But he’s into it. He’s in every meeting, he listens to every comment made about the other receivers, guys at his position, studies the tape. He’s done all of those things,” Coughlin said.
While Nicks returned to practice, defensive tackle Rocky Bernard (quadriceps), safety Kenny Phillips (knee) and running back Andre Brown (concussion) sat out because of injuries.
