Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III reportedly will practice with the team Wednesday, three days after suffering a concussion.
Both the Washington Post and Comcast Sports Net Washington reported that Griffin would be back under center Wednesday, though he won’t be subjected to any contact. CSN Washington reported that Griffin passed cardio and agility tests Tuesday as part of the league’s post-concussion protocol.
Even if he’s back for the start of the team’s preparations for Sunday’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings, Griffin would not be guaranteed to be the starter, the Post reported.
Griffin didn’t return to last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons after leaving in the third quarter with a mild concussion. He was hurt when he took a hard hit from Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon while sliding toward the end of a scramble.
After being examined by a neurologist in the locker room, Griffin was sent home.
Griffin later tweeted: “I’m ok and I think after all the testing I will play next week.”
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he hoped the concussion would prompt Griffin to be more cognizant of protecting his body.
