Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn announced three assistant coaches and three other members of the support staff for the 2012-13 season.
Vaughn, hired to replace fired coach Stan Van Gundy on July 28, hired James Borrego, Wes Unseld Jr. and Brett Gunning.
“Each coach brings a unique skill set to the staff,” Vaughn said in a news release. “Collectively, this staff possesses a diverse basketball background.”
Two coaches were named as player development coaches — Laron Profit and Luke Stuckey — and veteran NBA assistant coach Gordon Chiesea was named special consultant to Vaughn.
Borrego was part of two championship teams with the Spurs, where he worked with Magic general manager Rob Hennigan. He was an assistant coach with the Hornets last season. Unseld had 14 years NBA experience, mostly with the Wizards, and was an assistant for the Warriors in 2011-12. Gunning has four years experience as an NBA assistant and worked under Rollie Massimino and Jay Wright at Villanova.
