Andrew Norwell – Noteworthy – Injury
OG Andrew Norwell had started every game the past three seasons including all 11 games this year, but that streak will end this week after Norwell was placed on injured reserve. He suffered an ankle injury in the Buffalo game and was seen wearing a boot and on crutches in the locker room on Monday.
Blake Bortles – Important
QB Blake Bortles will be replaced by Cody Kessler as the Jaguars’ starting quarterback in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, coach Doug Marrone announced Monday. Bortles was 12 of 23 for 127 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday’s 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. In February, the Jaguars signed Bortles to a three-year, $54 million contract extension, and he has started all 11 games this season. He has completed 60.4 percent of his passes this season with 13 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions.
Cody Kessler – Important
QB Cody Kessler will replace Blake Bortles as the Jaguars’ starting quarterback in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, coach Doug Marrone announced Monday. Kessler had played in just one game this season, completing 21 of 30 passes for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interception after replacing Bortles in the Oct. 21 loss to the Houston Texans. Kessler played in three games off the bench for Cleveland last year, completing just 47.8 percent of his passes with no touchdowns and one interception. He started eight games for the Browns in 2016, and Cleveland lost all eight. In nine games that season, Kessler completed 65.6 percent of his passes with six TDs and two picks.
Donte Moncrief – Noteworthy
WR Donte Moncrief had one reception, a 29-yard gain that originally was ruled a touchdown but on a review, he was ruled down at the 1-yard line. It was Moncrief’s only catch of the game against Buffalo.
Josh Lambo – Noteworthy
PK Josh Lambo had made 28 consecutive field goals from inside the 50-yard line when he missed from 42 yards out in the loss to the Bills. Lambo pushed the kick to the left, preventing the Jaguars from taking the lead in the closing minute of the third quarter.
Leonard Fournette – Noteworthy
RB Leonard Fournette rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries Sunday against the Bills. He is waiting to hear from the NFL whether he’ll be suspended for Sunday’s game and/or how much he’ll be fined following his actions in the game against Buffalo. Fournette came off the Jaguars bench and threw several punches at Bills DE Shaq Lawson. Both players were ejected.
Logan Cooke – Noteworthy
P Logan Cooke had his fourth consecutive game of posting a 46.0 average or higher. Cooke averaged 47.8 yards/punt (second highest mark of the season) and placed three of his six kicks inside the 20 against the Bills.
Marcell Dareus – Noteworthy – Injury
DT Marcell Dareus who had started the first 10 games of the season, missed the Buffalo game due to a back injury. He’s likely to return to action later this week.
