Cincinnati Bengals player notes for Nov 23rd, 2018


A.J. Green – Important – Injury
WR A.J. Green declined to speak to the media, leading to speculation he will sit out his fourth straight game due to a toe injury. Despite optimistic reports out of Cincinnati that Green could return to the lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Green did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and did not participate in Friday’s walk-through. Green has told reporters in the past he would only speak to the media if was planning to play that weekend. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said earlier this week that he expected Green to practice this week and told reporters Friday that his star wideout is “on schedule.” Asked if Green could play Sunday, Green responded: “Yes.”

WR A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals, who has missed the last two games because of a toe injury, on Friday was listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Green has not practiced all week and the Bengals (5-5) said they will reevaluate him on Saturday. Head coach Marvin Lewis said earlier in the week that although Green had not yet been able to practice, he expected the wide receiver would be on the field sometime this week and that he thought he would play against the Browns. Lewis said on Friday that he hoped Green could practice on Saturday.

DT Adolphus Washington (knee) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bengals Friday (Nov. 23). He is eligible to be designated for return and begin practicing after missing at least six weeks and can play after eight weeks, but only if the Bengals qualify for the playoffs. He would be eligible to play for the first time only if Cincinnati reaches the conference championship game. Washington, a third-year player who had signed with the Bengals off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on Sept. 26, suffered a knee injury in Game 9 vs. New Orleans. He played in four games for the Bengals this season and recorded six tackles, including a sack.

Adolphus Washington – Noteworthy – Injury
DT Adolphus Washington was placed on injured reserve Friday. Washington is the 11th Cincinnati player, and fifth defensive lineman, to go on IR this season.

Christian Ringo – Noteworthy – Transaction
DT Christian Ringo was signed by Cincinnati on Friday. Ringo had been on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys. Ringo has appeared in 17 games in three seasons with Green Bay, Detroit and Dallas.

Josh Tupou – Noteworthy – Injury – Transaction
DT Josh Tupou (pectoral) was placed on reserve/injured by the Bengals Thursday (Nov. 22). He is eligible to be designated for return and begin practicing after missing at least six weeks and can play after eight weeks, but only if the Bengals qualify for the playoffs. He would be eligible to play in the conference championship game. Tupou, a second-year player, originally signed with the Bengals as a college free agent out of Colorado last season and played in one game as a rookie. He had played in six games this season and had nine tackles (six solos). He suffered a pectoral injury in practice on Wednesday.

Niles Scott – Noteworthy – Transaction
DT Niles Scott was signed by the Bengals Thursday (Nov. 22) from the Broncos practice squad. Scott (6-3, 295; Frostburg State), a rookie, originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a college free agent earlier this year. He has spent time this season on the practice squads of both the 49ers and the Broncos.
