Strategy And Personnel

KEY MATCHUP N.C. State defensive front vs. Wake Forest’s offensive line. The Wolfpack came up bit with five sacks against Florida State, so the line came up big even with a couple of players in the main rotation out with injuries. This looks like an area that could be beneficial for the Wolfpack in the Wake Forest matchup because the Demon Deacons have struggled along the offensive front at times. Wake Forest gave up six sacks last week to Syracuse. It could be tougher for Wake Forest in this game because QB Sam Hartman, who has started every game, is out with a leg injury, so the Demon Deacons will be breaking in a new starter in the road game.

DRAFT SLANT

–QB Ryan Finley stayed for his final year of eligibility and he’s showing that he can still make progress as his draft stock might be soaring this season. Finley has been solid with 16 touchdown passes through eight games. Among quarterbacks from schools in Power 5 conferences, only two returnees had more than Finley’s 3,518 passing yards last year. He had a completion rate of better than 65 percent last year (and 67.8 so far this season).

ROSTER REPORT

–DT Eunrdraus Bryant missed the Florida State with an injury. The senior started the team’s first seven games of the season.

–DT Shug Frazier, a redshirt sophomore, was out for the Florida State game with an injury. He’s the primary backup to DT Eunrdraus Bryant, who also missed the game.

–K Christopher Dunn racked up 17 points in the victory against Florida State, going 4-for-4 on field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points. With 14 field goals this season, he set the school record for a rookie kicker. The previous mark was 11 by Nikolas Sade in 2011.
