Baylor player notes for Nov 3rd, 2018

Charlie Brewer – Important – Injury
QB Charlie Brewer returned to the lineup for Saturday’s matchup against visiting Oklahoma State and threw for the winning touchdown with seven seconds left in the Bears’ 35-31 victory. Brewer was cleared to play after passing the concussion protocol Friday, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported. However, the Bears elected to start junior quarterback Jalen McClendon in the game while Brewer watched from the sidelines while in uniform. Brewer entered in the fourth quarter and was 4-of-8 passing for 56 yards and two touchdowns and added 28 yards on six carries.

Denzel Mims – Noteworthy
Charlie Brewer threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Denzel Mims with seven seconds left to give Baylor a 35-31 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday. Brewer didn’t play the first three quarters after starting the week in concussion protocol since Baylor’s last game. But he led the Bears (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) to consecutive touchdown drives after entering the game, including a 36-yard TD pass to Jalen Hurd with 5:43 left. Baylor’s game-winning drive started after Oklahoma State (5-4, 2-4) was stopped on fourth down, when Chris Miller sacked Taylor Cornelius for a 9-yard loss with 1:31 left. The Bears then went 55 yards on eight plays, the winning score coming on Brewer’s TD to Mims. The win gets Baylor within one win of bowl eligibility, a year after winning only one game in coach Matt Rhule’s first season. – AP College Football
