PLAYERS TO WATCH
–LB Mohamed Barry led the Cornhuskers in tackles against Bethune-Cookman, tallying 11 total with seven solo stops and a sack. His 11-tackle effort is the fifth time this year the linebacker has racked up double-digit stops. He had 12 in the opener against Colorado while having 11 against Michigan, Purdue and Minnesota.
–RB Devine Ozigbo, a senior, had 110 yards on 11 carries against Bethune-Cookman to lead Nebraska’s rushing attack. Ozigbo has had three consecutive 100-yard games and has crossed the threshold in four of his past five games.
“We know we are going to have to be really physical and have to be really disciplined,” Ozigbo said. “Especially with the O-line, they have the biggest challenge going up against Ohio State’s D-line. Just being able to trust those guys and being able to hit the holes hard when they are there and making sure we capitalize on all opportunities.”
–WR J.D. Spielman, a sophomore, hauled in five catches for 72 yards against Bethune-Cookman. Spielman has five consecutive outings with at least five catches and 70 yards receiving. Spielman’s biggest outing came on the road against Wisconsin, when he had nine grabs for 209 yards and a touchdown.
SERIES HISTORY: Ohio State leads the series against Nebraska 5-1. The Buckeyes have won each of the previous three outings, dating to 2012.
QUOTE TO NOTE: “It’s crazy. If you’d have come out to practice the last five weeks probably, I don’t know if you’d see a difference between having won the week before and not. I think that speaks to the character of the guys we’ve got, that they’re coming back and going to work. There’s no pouting after a loss, there’s no patting themselves on the back after a win. They just come back and enjoy being around each other and go to work.” — Coach Scott Frost, on the team’s mentality after winning two straight games.
