Jacksonville Jaguars player notes for Oct 29th, 2018

Barry Church – Noteworthy
Ss Barry Church, Ronnie Harrison and Jarrod Wilson as well as cornerback D.J. Hayden were detained hours before the Jaguars were set to play the Philadelphia Eagles at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. “We are aware that four of our players were detained over restitution of a bill,” the team said in a statement. “The matter is being resolved and the players are with the team. Any discipline will be handled internally.” Church, Harrison and Wilson are active for Sunday’s game. Hayden is inactive after being listed as doubtful with a toe injury leading up to the contest. The Sun, a London publication, reported that the players allegedly attempted to leave the London Reign Showclub at 4 a.m. without paying a bill of more than $64,000 after drinking $500 a bottle champagne and vodka. The club features burlesque and circus performers. According to the newspaper, the players were met by security and “squared up to the bouncers outside the nightspot.” “Things got pretty heated and there was a lot of swearing and shouting and things became physical,” a source told The Sun. The Sun report indicated that the four men arrested by police were released after nine hours in custody when the bill was settled and the complaint dropped.

Blake Bortles – Noteworthy
QB Blake Bortles Bortles was a bright spot for the Jaguars Sunday. He had not looked good in the previous three defeats, throwing five interceptions, losing three fumbles and throwing but two TD passes. But Bortles protected the ball in this game and was on target most of the time. He finished 24-of-41 (58.5 pct) for 286 yards and one TD but no turnovers. Bortles also led the Jaguars in rushing with 43 yards on eight carries.
But the Jaguars quarterback put wins over any individual statistics or accomplishments and the fourth straight defeat had an impact on him.
“It was frustrating,” he said about coming up short against the defending Super Bowl champions. “I think any time we go through a week of preparation and things are done right throughout the week, and we get out here and mess it up or don’t make the play or whatever, it’s frustrating. But it’s not — I’m not mad at anybody. I’m not mad at myself. I get frustrated with everybody and myself included, when we don’t do the things that I know we can do and I know I’ve watched us do on a weekly basis.
“I think that’s all we’ve got to do is continue to find a way to just be ourselves and make the plays that everybody on our offense can make. I don’t think anybody needs to be superman or do anything special. We’ve just got to do whatever we’re all capable of.”
