RHP German Marquez leaves start with forearm injury

Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez left Monday’s 7-4 win against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals after five innings with what the team is calling mid-forearm tightness in his pitching arm.

Marquez went to the mound to warm up for the top of the sixth but appeared to experience discomfort. He pointed to his forearm when manager Bud Black and trainers went to the mound.

Marquez was removed from the game and went to the clubhouse. He allowed two runs on three hits and fanned four with no walks. He picked up the victory to move to 2-1 this season and lowered his ERA to 4.41.

Marquez, who is in his eighth major league season, all with the Rockies, also moved into third place all-time on the team’s wins list with his 64th. Jorge De La Rosa tops the category with 86.
