5-Star Recruit Praises Alabama After Visit for LSU Game

Key Points:

  • Five-star recruit Maxwell Hiller visited Alabama for the LSU game and came away thoroughly impressed.
  • Hiller praised the Crimson Tide’s energy, coaching staff, and fans after his Tuscaloosa game-day experience.
  • Ranked No. 1 among interior offensive linemen, Hiller holds offers from multiple top national programs.

The Alabama Crimson Tide advanced to 8-1 on Saturday, defeating the LSU Tigers 20-9 at home. Despite the low-scoring game, it was a solid performance from Ty Simpson, who threw for 277 yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions and a 79.6 quarterback rating.

Going into the game ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff committee’s first rankings, the Crimson Tide took care of business. Alabama also picked up a nice SEC win in front of several top recruits making their way to Tuscaloosa for a game-day visit.

Interior offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, out of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, was one prospect in attendance. Going into the 2025 season, he earned a second-team spot in the 2025 Preseason MaxPreps Junior All-America Team.

After the game, Hiller spoke to Rivals’ vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, highlighting a great experience with Alabama.

“Energy was amazing more than I expected!” Hiller said. “Couldn’t ask for more from this program. The coaching staff, to the fans, to the other recruits, everything is great!”

He would be a huge addition for the Crimson Tide, as Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 interior offensive lineman and the No. 9 player in the nation.

Despite enjoying his time in Tuscaloosa, Hiller has a lot of other options on his plate. He’s received offers from schools such as South Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Alabama’s 2027 Recruiting Class So Far

Led by head coach Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide has put together one of the most impressive 2027 cycles in college football. With four commitments, they rank No. 3 in the SEC and No. 6 in the nation.

The four commitments include four-star EDGE JaBarrius Garror, four-star IOL Jatori Williams, four-star QB Trent Seaborn and three-star CB Nash Johnson.

Hiller isn’t the only five-star interior offensive lineman Alabama is making a run at, either, having also offered a scholarship to Mark Matthews out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Alabama has assembled a top-five class every cycle from 2019 to 2026 and is looking to do so once again.
