Key Points:
- Despite losing to USC, Nebraska impressed several visiting recruits during its Week 10 matchup.
 - Recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong predicted 4-star RB Amir Brown to commit to the Cornhuskers.
 - Landing Brown would strengthen Matt Rhule’s 2027 class and boost Nebraska’s Big Ten outlook.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers fell to 6-3 on Saturday, losing to the USC Trojans 21-17 in a Week 10 matchup. To make matters worse, sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola suffered a broken fibula in the third quarter, ending his season. With three losses and their starting quarterback out, the Cornhuskers’ Big Ten title and College Football Playoff hopes are slipping away.
Despite losing to USC, though, Nebraska impressed several high-level recruits in town for visits. That includes class of 2027 running back Amir Brown out of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a four-star recruit, the No. 21 running back and the No. 274 player in the nation. In 10 games this season for Rolesville High School, he has rushed the ball 138 times for 1,108 yards and 16 touchdowns.
It’s clear he enjoyed his visit because on Sunday, Rivals’ vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, logged an expert prediction for Brown to commit to Nebraska.

In an article from Wiltfong, Brown made it clear the Cornhuskers are at the top of his list, saying, “Everything about Nebraska excites me and yes they are the one to beat. Fans, coaches, everything and everyone in general I just love it.”
However, several other college football powerhouses have also extended scholarship offers, including Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas A&M and Georgia. The Cornhuskers may be at the top, but they face fierce competition.
Nebraska Looking to Add in 2027 Class
Under head coach Matt Rhule, the Cornhuskers have already put together an impressive 2027 recruiting class. They have already landed four commitments, ranking No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 6 in the nation.
That includes some high-level talent in four-star safety Tory Pittman, four-star quarterback Trae Taylor, four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins and three-star offensive tackle Matt Erickson. An addition like Brown would boost Nebraska in the right direction and help compensate for a weaker 2026 cycle, which ranks No. 64 in the nation.
With Rhule signing a two-year extension, keeping him with Nebraska through the 2032 season, recruits know what they’re getting into with the Cornhuskers. That makes Nebraska an ideal destination for players seeking stability.
