Aggies Take Down the Irish with Last-Minute Reception

Week 3 … U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week” for Games of Sept. 13

The game in South Bend had turned out to be everything that it was supposed to be.

No. 8 Notre Dame hosting No. 16 Texas A&M.

It had powerful running attacks, prolific passing games, back-and-forth lead changes and  over 900 yards total offense.

But it had come down to this.

After a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was called back due to a holding penalty, Texas A&M found itself 74 yards away from the end zone with under three minutes to play, trailing, 40-34.

But with 13 seconds remaining, the Aggies had moved to the Irish 11-yard line. There was time for only one more snap.

A&M quarterback Marcel Reed escaped pressure and threw to the end zone. Tight end Nate Boerkircher made the catch – his only reception of the game. The extra point kick gave the Aggies the 41-40 victory.

Boerkircher’s touchdown reception has been chosen as the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

Reed threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another 37 yards. The game-winning catch was the only pass thrown in Boerkircher’s direction during the game.

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”

The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.

U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
