South Florida postponed its game at Florida Atlantic on Saturday due to contact tracing related to the Bulls’ loss last weekend at Notre Dame.

On Tuesday, Notre Dame postponed its upcoming game against Wake Forest after seven Fighting Irish players tested positive for the coronavirus.

USF paused football activities Wednesday morning pending test results. By the afternoon, the decision was made to postpone Saturday’s contest against the Owls in Boca Raton, Fla.

“Given the outbreak among team members of our most recent opponent and subsequent contact tracing within our team, postponement … is the right thing to do,” USF vide president of athletics Michael Kelly said in a release.

The Bulls (1-1) opened the season with a 27-6 win against The Citadel on Sept. 12 before losing 52-0 on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

Florida Atlantic has yet to play a game this season under first-year coach Willie Taggart, the former Florida State coach who was hired after Lane Kiffin left the Owls to coach at Ole Miss.

“The two schools are working to identify a future date for rescheduling,” Florida Atlantic posted on the football team’s website.
