Former Kansas running back Khalil Herbert intends to play for Virginia Tech in 2020 as a graduate transfer.
He announced the news on Twitter on Monday, including pictures of himself in a Hokies uniform.
Herbert left the Jayhawks in late September citing unspecified personal reasons. At the time, he said he had intended to take a redshirt year and return to Lawrence for his senior season. But coach Les Miles announced that Herbert was no longer a part of the football program, and Herbert opted to transfer.
Herbert played in four games for the Jayhawks in 2019, gaining 384 yards on 43 carries — an average of 8.9 yards per carry — plus two touchdowns.
In parts of four seasons at Kansas, he rushed 320 times for 1,735 yards and 14 touchdowns and added 24 catches for 118 yards.
