San Francisco 49ers player notes for Oct 8th, 2018

Jimmy Garoppolo – Important – Injury
QB Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight months after doctors found only a torn ACL when they operated on the knee of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, ESPN reported on Sunday. The timeline would put Garoppolo on track to be ready for training camp. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan even expressed hope that Garoppolo could potentially beat that timeline. “I’m hoping that he’ll be able to get into OTAs and do some non-contact stuff with throwing the ball and everything,” Shanahan told reporters. “It’s always a little bit better when you’re dealing with a quarterback and stuff as opposed to other positions, because you can get them in hopefully in seven-on-seven drills a little bit early and things like that, which helps those guys get involved a lot faster.”

Ryan Delaire – Noteworthy – Transaction
DE Ryan Delaire was signed by the 49ers from their practice squad Saturday (Oct. 6). Delaire (6-4, 260) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 8, 2015. After he was waived by Tampa Bay on September 5, 2015, he was signed to the Washington Redskins practice squad on September 7, 2015. On September 30, 2015, he was signed to the Carolina Panthers active roster where he went on to appear in 15 games and register 14 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one pass defensed in two seasons (2015-16). He also appeared in one playoff game for Carolina in 2015 and registered one tackle. Delaire was waived by the Panthers on July 25, 2017 and later signed with the Indianapolis Colts on August 11, 2018. He was waived by Indianapolis on September 2 and signed to the 49ers practice squad on September 26.

Victor Bolden Jr. – Noteworthy – Transaction
WR Victor Bolden Jr. had his roster exemption lifted by the 49ers Saturday (Oct. 6). He had been reinstated from reserve/suspended Monday. Bolden Jr. (5-8, 178) signed with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 4, 2017. He appeared in nine games last season and registered 19 kickoff returns for 396 yards, four punt returns for 23 yards and one forced fumble on special teams.

C.J. Beathard – Noteworthy
QB C.J. Beathard scored from one yard out in the final two minutes but it was too late as San Francisco dropped to 1-12 in the last two seasons without Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting the quarterback.
Beathard completed 34-of-54 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns. He also was intercepted twice, fumbled twice and sacked four times.

George Kittle – Noteworthy
TE George Kittle led the 49ers with five catches and 83 yards.

Matt Breida – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Matt Breida left the game with an injured ankle in the first quarter. He finished with eight carries on 56 yards before exiting.

Robbie Gould – Noteworthy
PK Robbie Gould endured a rough outing. Besides not being able to attempt the PAT because of the botched extra-point attempt, he also missed wide right from 45 yards out, snapping his team-record streak of 33 straight field goals.
