Jets coach Robert Saleh tests positive for COVID-19

New York Jets coach Robert Saleh tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

ESPN said Saleh is one of 15 members of the team out due to COVID-19. While the team announced Saleh’s positive test, it did not confirm the report.

Per ESPN, the affected players are defensive backs Michael Carter, Justin Hardee, Sharrod Neasman and Lamar Jackson; wide receivers Elijah Moore, Jeff Smith and Vyncint Smith; defensive linemen Foley Fatukasi, John Franklin-Myers and Tanzel Smart; linebackers Hamsah Nasirildeen, Blake Cashman and Noah Dawkins; guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

The Jets said Saleh has symptoms, and tight ends coach Ron Middleton was expected to guide the team through Wednesday’s practice. He also would coach the Jets (3-11) in Sunday’s game against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) if Saleh is unable to do so.

Saleh, 42, is in his first season as head coach of the Jets. He served as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in the past four seasons (2017-20).
