Yankees CF Aaron Hicks (wrist) placed on 10-day IL

The New York Yankees placed center fielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left wrist sprain.

Hicks, 31, missed the last three games and the injury designation is retroactive to Thursday.

On Saturday, manager Aaron Boone said Hicks was taking anti-inflammatories to treat the injury but acknowledged that surgery could ultimately be an option.

Hicks has batted .194 with four home runs, 14 RBIs and 30 strikeouts in 32 games this season.

He is a career .233 hitter with 92 homers and 311 RBIs in 740 games with the Minnesota Twins (2013-15) and the Yankees.

In a corresponding transaction, the Yankees signed outfielder Ryan LaMarre to a major league contract and added him to the 26-man roster from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

LaMarre, 32, last played in the big leagues with the Twins in 2019. He has a lifetime .236 average with four homers and 21 RBIs in 119 games for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Oakland A’s, Chicago White Sox and Minnesota.
