San Francisco 49ers player notes for Sep 25th, 2018


Alfred Morris – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Alfred Morris (ankle) briefly left Sunday’s loss in Kansas City with an ankle injury but returned. He will be re-evaluated later this week.

Jimmy Garoppolo – Important – Injury
QB Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL, the 49ers announced on Monday, The team said Garoppolo underwent an MRI Monday morning that determined he suffered a torn left ACL.
That will end Garoppolo’s season after just three games. Garoppolo, who signed a lucrative five-year deal with the team in March, was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 38-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard will become the team’s starter for the remainder of the season. He started five games for the 49ers last season, and the team went 1-4 in those starts.

Joshua Garnett – Noteworthy
G Joshua Garnett (toe) is not expected to play Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. On Monday, coach Kyle Shanahan said he’d be surprised if Garnett came back this week. Garnett suffered the injury in the opener at Minnesota and has missed the last two games.

Marquise Goodwin – Noteworthy – Injury
WR Marquise Goodwin (quad) made it through Week 3 with no setbacks and should be ready to play next week finishing with three catches in the loss at Kansas City. Goodwin missed the Week 2 win over Detroit after sustaining the injury of Week 1 at Minnesota.

Matt Breida – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Matt Breida (knee, calf) is questionable for Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Breida hyperextended his knee Sunday and also is dealing with some calf soreness. Breida leads the 49ers with 274 yards on 32 carries.

Mike Person – Noteworthy – Injury
G Mike Person (knee, foot) added a knee strain against the Chiefs to his existing foot injury and coach Kyle Shanahan called him questionable this week on Monday. Person was injured early in Week 1 in a loss at Minnesota.

Richard Sherman – Noteworthy – Injury
CB Richard Sherman is expected to miss two to three weeks with a strained calf, multiple media outlets reported on Monday. Sherman sustained the injury during the second quarter of Sunday’s 38-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 30-year-old needed assistance to help him to the locker room, did not return to the contest and was spotted with his left foot in a walking boot. Prior to his departure, Sherman recorded two tackles and broke up a deep pass intended for Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
