Indiana dismissed starting safety Antonio Allen from the team on Wednesday after his arrest on drug charges.

On Tuesday, Indiana State Police charged Allen with five counts of drug dealing after searching the 20-year-old’s residence in Bloomington. The university announced his immediate dismissal from the program in a one-sentence statement issued a day later.

The charges include two counts each of dealing methamphetamine and heroin and one count of dealing cocaine. Allen also was charged with possession of heroin over 10 grams, possession of cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance.

The Indianapolis native led the Hoosiers with 74 tackles last season and was considered one of the top returnees on defense this year.
