All-Star right-hander Johnny Cueto of the Cincinnati Reds will have an MRI exam on Tuesday to verify a right elbow ailment that forced him to skip a start is not serious.
Cueto’s injury is being termed “right elbow stiffness” by the Reds. He was skipped in his scheduled rotation spot Sunday and examined Monday. That report was encouraging, manager Bryan Price told the Cincinnati Enquirer.
“We don’t think it’s a serious injury. We did all the stuff that we need to do just to verify that everything’s OK,” Price said. “Hopefully he’ll miss one start and be back the next time.”
With a day off Thursday, the Reds could bring Cueto back this weekend if his MRI results allow.
