Utah Utes running back Troy McCormick suffered a “pretty severe” knee injury during practice Friday and will miss the 2015 season, according to coach Kyle Whittingham.
“That’s the most unfortunate part of the game,” Whittingham said, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. “He’s just a great kid, and it tears your heart out to see that happen.”
McCormick rushed for 178 yards on 30 carries as a redshirt freshman in 2014, and was expected to serve as a primary backup to Devontae Booker, who rushed for 1,512 yards last season.
