Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery is in the concussion protocol, coach Matt Nagy said Monday.
Montgomery departed Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter. He had 14 carries for 30 yards before leaving. Nagy did not address the injury in his postgame press conference.
Ryan Nall replaced Montgomery on Sunday. The Bears also have former Pro Bowl RB Lamar Miller on their practice squad.
There is no timetable for when Montgomery might be cleared. The Bears (5-4) have an extra day ahead to prepare for their Week 10 game, a Monday night meeting on Nov. 16 against the visiting Minnesota Vikings (3-5).
The second-year running back has 472 yards rushing in nine games (eight starts) with a touchdown. He also has 30 catches for 212 yards and a score.
Bears defensive back and special-teams player Sherrick McManis sustained a broken finger against the Titans.
