Rays remove injured RHP Drake from ALDS roster

The Tampa Bay Rays removed right-hander Oliver Drake from their playoff roster because of a right flexor tendon strain on Thursday.

The 33-year-old Drake pitched one scoreless inning during the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, striking out one and allowing one hit. He has a career record of 10-10 with a 4.27 ERA in 196 relief appearances with seven teams.

The Rays activated right-hander Trevor Richards to replace Drake, who also will miss the AL Championship Series if Tampa Bay advances.

Richards, 27, has not pitched in the playoffs. He is 10-21 with a 4.41 ERA in 64 appearances (52 starts) with the Miami Marlins and the Rays.
