Giants-Padres series resumes after false positive

The positive COVID-19 test that interrupted this weekend’s series between the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres was determined to be a false positive, multiple outlets reported.

Giants outfielder Alex Dickerson reportedly was the member of the San Francisco organization whose positive test caused the teams to postpone games Friday and Saturday. Multiple COVID-19 tests on Dickerson since that diagnosis determined it was a false positive.

The series at San Diego was set to resume Sunday afternoon with a pair of seven-inning games. The remaining postponed game will be made up when the teams meet to close the season Sept. 25-27 at San Francisco.

The Padres won the opener of the four-game series on Thursday night, 6-1.
