Clemson junior quarterback Trevor Lawrence confirmed Saturday he plans to graduate in December and enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
“I’m planning on this being my last season,” Lawrence told ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi on the network’s “College GameDay” show.
Lawrence, who turns 21 next month, is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. In July, he became engaged to longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart Marissa Mowry.
A 2020 Heisman Trophy favorite, Lawrence and the top-ranked Tigers open the season Saturday night at Wake Forest.
He guided Clemson to a national championship as a freshman in 2018 and returned to the title game last year, losing to LSU. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Lawrence has completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 6,945 yards with 66 touchdowns and 12 interceptions through 30 games.
