Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave has been shut down indefinitely due to lingering “issues with his shoulder.”
Stave started for the Badgers last season, but Tanner McEvoy was given the nod in Houston last week against LSU.
Head coach Gary Andersen disclosed Stave’s status Tuesday.
“Obviously, Tanner’s a good player,” Stave said last week before Andersen’s announcement that McEvoy would start.
Stave started every game and completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 2,494 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2013. He left the Capital One Bowl with a clavicle injury and Andersen announced before spring practice that there would be a competition at the position.
