University of Texas athletics said Thursday that 13 new football players have tested positive or are presumed positive for COVID-19 and 10 others are asymptomatic and in self-quarantine.
Team physician Allen Hardin said the 10 others in quarantine were identified through contact tracing.
The state of Texas has become a hotbed for the coronavirus. Last week, the University of Houston shut down workouts with six positive tests and multiple players on the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys, including running back Ezekiel Elliott, tested positive this week.
The Longhorns began voluntary workouts this week.
Kansas State, also in the Big 12, had eight positive tests from their student-athletes, the school announced Thursday.
