Miami adds Houston grad transfer OL Williams

Former Houston offensive lineman Jarrid Williams is heading to Miami as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound redshirt senior chose the Hurricanes over Baylor, Ole Miss, Florida State and Southern California.

“I have been blessed with the opportunity to be recruited by and learn from some amazing football coaches,” he posted Sunday on Twitter. “I want to thank the Coaches at Baylor/Ole Miss/FSU/USC/Miami for giving me the chance to play my last season with them. With that being said I have decided to finish my career and earn a Masters Degree at The University of Miami.”

Williams played only four games and took a medical redshirt in 2019 due to an ankle injury and is expected to compete for a starting job with Miami this season.

Primarily lining up at right tackle, he started 19 of his 28 games with the Cougars and entered last season as a preseason second-team All-American Athletic Conference selection.
