Hopkins-Johnson trade shifts Cards, Texans futures odds


Monday’s news of the reported blockbuster trade sending wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals and running back David Johnson to the Houston Texans not only rocked the NFL world, but it caused some significant shifts in sportsbooks, as well.

In the hours following the trade announcement, the Cardinals’ futures odds at DraftKings looked like this:

— +750 to win NFC West
— Over/under 7.5 win total

According to The Action Network, this is what those odds looked before news of the trade broke:

— +6600 to win Super Bowl
— +2800 to win NFC championship
— +1600 to win NFC West
— Over/under 6 win total

As for the Texans, here are their odds as of Monday afternoon, per DraftKings:

— +4000 to win Super Bowl
— +1800 to win AFC championship
— +225 to win AFC South
— Over/under 8 win total

And here is what those odds were before the trade, according to The Action Network:

— +3300 to win Super Bowl
— +1500 to win AFC championship
— +210 to win AFC South
— Over/under 8.5 win total

With Hopkins now in the fold in Arizona, second-year quarterback Kyler Murray will have a receiving corps led by Hopkins, Christian Kirk and Hall of Fame lock Larry Fitzgerald.

That trio combined for 247 receptions, 2,678 yards and 14 touchdowns last season.
