Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt is no stranger to digging deep into his pockets to help others in times of need.
Nearly three years ago, Watt launched an online fundraising campaign to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Watt’s foundation later revealed that the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund raised $41.6 million to become the largest fundraiser conducted by crowdsourcing in history.
Well, the 30-year-old Watt hasn’t stopped there.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Watt and his wife, Kealia Ohai, recently have donated $350,000 to the Houston Food Bank. The couple’s generosity has resulted in over “one million meals for those in need during this unprecedented time,” per Schefter.
Watt is a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2012, 2014, 2015) as well as the 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year. The latter award annually recognizes a player for outstanding community service off the field as well as on-field excellence.
