Ex-UTSA player arrested in sister’s stabbing death

Former Texas-San Antonio safety Michael Egwuagu was arrested and charged with murder in the death of his sister.

Authorities have not released the name of the woman.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the woman, who might have been pregnant, was found Friday at a home in Pflugerville, Texas, with multiple stab wounds. The department said she was in her 30s.

Authorities said an autopsy will be performed to verify the woman’s pregnancy.

Egwuagu, 25, played at UTSA from 2013-16, appearing in 44 games for the Roadrunners. He made 211 tackles, intercepted six passes (returning two for touchdowns) and forced three fumbles. He was a second-team All-Conference USA selection following the 2016 season and received an invitation to mini-camp from the Chicago Bears in 2017.

Egwuagu is the younger brother of former Texas defensive back Martin Egwuagu and the cousin of former NFL defensive end IK Enemkpali.
