Colorado State QB Hill transferring to South Carolina

Colorado State quarterback Collin Hill announced Saturday he is headed to South Carolina as a graduate transfer.

Former Rams coach Mike Bobo recently was hired as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator. In addition, Hill is a native of the state.

“After a lot of prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to come home and play at the University of South Carolina,” Hill wrote in his note posted to Twitter. “I’m excited for what the future holds, and can’t wait to get started in January.”

Hill was recruited to Colorado State by Bobo and passed for 3,323 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 18 games.

However, he tore the ACL in his left knee three times — in a game against Utah State in 2016, while playing pickup basketball in March 2018 and again this season in a game against Arkansas.

As a graduate transfer, Hill will be eligible to play in 2020. Ryan Hilinski, who will be a sophomore, is the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback. He passed for 2,357 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2019.
