Raiders OT Brown headed to IR; Jacobs out vs. Chargers

The Oakland Raiders are placing Pro Bowl offensive tackle Trent Brown on injured reserve and plan to hold out running back Josh Jacobs in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Coach Jon Gruden announced the two decisions on Wednesday, three days after the Raiders lost their fourth straight game to fall to 6-8 on the season.

Brown, who started 11 games at right tackle this season, missed the two previous games with a pectoral injury sustained in Oakland’s 40-9 loss to Kansas City on Dec. 1.

Brown, 26, received a four-year, $66 million deal from the Raiders in the offseason with $36.75 million in guarantees, making him the league’s highest-paid offensive lineman. He was named to his first career Pro Bowl on Tuesday.

Jacobs has played with a fractured shoulder since Week 7, missing just one game, in Week 14. He has rushed for 1,150 yards and has averaged 4.8 yards per carry with seven touchdowns this season.

The Raiders made Jacobs the No. 24 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
