Miami loses S Bolden to celebration injury

Miami Hurricanes safety Bubba Bolden injured his ankle celebrating an interception on Saturday and will miss the rest of the season.

“We will not have Bubba for the rest of the year,” coach Manny Diaz confirmed Monday. “It’s unfortunate.”

Bolden, who transferred to Miami this season from Southern California, picked off Alex Hornibrook’s pass attempt early in the third quarter of the Hurricanes’ 27-10 win.

While celebrating the play, he apparently turned his ankle following a chest bump with fellow safety Gurvan Hall.

“About as strong and powerful a chest bump as I’ve ever seen,” Diaz told WQAM radio. “… That was definitely unfortunate. You hate to see things like that happen. It’s just unlucky. But guys are enthusiastic.”

Bolden, a redshirt sophomore, tallied 11 tackles, one forced fumble and the interception in five games this season.
