Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington is expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a shoulder injury, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.
Washington sustained the injury during the third quarter of Pittsburgh’s 26-23 overtime loss to Baltimore on Sunday.
The 23-year-old was spotted wearing a sling after recording three receptions for a season-high 52 yards in the contest.
Rookie Diontae Johnson could play a large role in the absence of Washington, who has nine catches for 140 yards on the season. Johnson has caught 18 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns.
Wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster has team-leading totals in receptions (24), targets (34) and receiving yards (333) for the Steelers (1-4), who visit the Los Angeles Chargers (2-3) on Sunday night.
