The Jacksonville Jaguars lost starting tight end James O’Shaughnessy for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL, according to NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport.
An MRI exam on Monday revealed the extent of the injury, suffered during Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers.
O’Shaughnessy, 27, has 14 receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns this season.
He is in his third season with the Jaguars after spending his first two years with the Kansas City Chiefs, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. O’Shaughnessy has 60 career catches for 602 yards and three touchdowns.
The Jaguars also have used Geoff Swaim (12 catches, 60 yards) and Seth DeValve (no catches) at tight end this season. Rookie third-rounder Josh Oliver has not played because of a hamstring injury, although coach Doug Marrone said last week that Oliver practiced for three days leading up to the Carolina game.
