Missouri QB Bryant leaves with leg injury

Missouri quarterback Kelly Bryant left Saturday’s home game against Troy with what the school announced as a lower left leg injury.

Bryant had just released a 6-yard touchdown pass with 1:12 left in the first half when he was hit low and from behind by defensive lineman Travis Sailo. Bryant’s leg was bent back awkwardly, and he immediately grabbed at his left knee as a penalty flag flew in for a personal foul.

Tigers coach Barry Odom said after the Tigers’ 42-10 victory that doctors were encouraged by the initial examination, but added that Bryant would undergo further testing.

“He’s getting checked out now and hopefully we’ll find out something later tonight,” Odom said. “He was in great spirits and our docs seem like it was good news, but I don’t want to go there until I get it confirmed.”

Bryant, a graduate transfer from Clemson, completed 12 of 19 passes for 221 yards as the Tigers took a 42-7 halftime lead. He connected on three touchdown passes in the first half, including a 64-yarder to Jonathan Nance.

Taylor Powell came in to replace Bryant to start the third quarter. He completed 6 of 8 passes for 57 yards.
