Oklahoma kicker Calum Sutherland was suspended indefinitely on Friday amid a report that he’s being investigated by the university’s Title IX office.
Sutherland is accused of physically assaulting his girlfriend, who stated in an arrest affidavit obtained by The Oklahoman that a “short physical and verbal alteration” occurred at an off-campus apartment complex.
Sutherland, 19, was arrested at 4:46 a.m. on Sept. 21, according to Norman Police Department records.
Per the newspaper, the arresting officer “did not observe any injuries on her person,” and witnesses stated Sutherland was “extremely intoxicated.”
“We have been aware of the matter and Calum has been suspended indefinitely since we were notified,” Oklahoma football spokesman Mike Houck said.
Sutherland has made 2 of 4 field-goal attempts and all 23 extra-point tries in his second season with the team.
Redshirt freshman Gabe Brkic made both field-goal attempts in the Sooners’ 55-16 win over Texas Tech on Saturday.
