Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez will return to the dugout Friday after missing three games to undergo a heart procedure, the team announced.
Martinez, 54, underwent a cardiac catheterization on Monday after suffering chest pains during Sunday’s home game against Atlanta. He exited in the sixth inning and was taken to a hospital.
The team said the catheterization indicated no further procedures were necessary.
The Nationals lost two of three games at St. Louis under bench coach Chip Hale during Martinez’s absence.
Washington entered play Friday with a one-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the National League’s top wild card spot.
The Nationals visit the Miami Marlins this weekend for a three-series beginning Friday.
