Ole Miss LB Sanogo (ankle) out about 10 weeks

Ole Miss linebacker MoMo Sanogo was scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday on his right ankle, injured during Saturday’s 31-17 win over Arkansas.

Coach Matt Luke confirmed the surgery and said the junior was expected to miss about 10 weeks. If that timeline proves correct, Sanogo would return for the final game of the regular season in late November against Mississippi State.

Sanogo started all 12 games at linebacker in 2018 and was third in the SEC with 9.3 tackles per game and fifth in the conference in total tackles with 112.

Sophomore Jacquez Jones is expected to play a greater role in his absence.

“It just reiterates what we’re always talking about about being ready to play,” Luke said. “Jacquez wasn’t getting that many snaps, but he kept preparing. … He was prepared to step in and was our leading tackler (against Arkansas). I think that’s a good lesson to every position on the football team.”

The Rebels (1-1, 1-0 SEC) host Southeastern Louisiana (1-0) on Saturday.
