Reports: A’s get SP Roark from Reds

The Oakland Athletics bolstered their starting rotation on Wednesday’s trade deadline day, reportedly acquiring right-hander Tanner Roark from the Cincinnati Reds.

The 32-year-old Roark is scheduled to become a free agent at season’s end. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal was first to report the deal, though what compensation the A’s are sending back to the Reds is not yet known.

Roark was traded to the Reds last December after spending the first six seasons of his career with Washington. He is 6-7 with a 4.24 ERA in 21 starts this season. He has a 70-61 record with a 3.66 ERA in 203 career appearances, 162 of them starts.

The A’s entered Wednesday eight games behind first-place Houston in the American League West but a half-game up on Tampa Bay for the second wild-card spot.
