Diamondbacks activate OF Peralta from IL

The Arizona Diamondbacks activated left fielder David Peralta from the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday’s afternoon game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Peralta missed the past three weeks with an injury to his right shoulder.

“I think it’s the right time to come back,” Peralta told reporters prior to Arizona’s game. “The important thing is my shoulder feels good and that’s all that matters. If it feels good, I can play the way I want to.

“I’m excited about today. It was a lot of time off to get to the right place. I think we’re good right now.”

Peralta, 31, is batting .289 with nine homers, 24 doubles and 44 RBIs in 73 games. He had career-best totals of 30 homers and 87 RBIs in 2018.

Arizona opened up a roster spot for Peralta after Tuesday’s game when it optioned infielder Ildemaro Vargas to Triple-A Reno. Vargas, 28, batted .260 with five homers and 20 RBIs in 70 games with Arizona.
