Oakland All-Star third baseman Matt Chapman exited the Athletics’ Wednesday game against the visiting Seattle Mariners due to a left ankle injury.
Chapman departed after the second inning. During his at-bat in the bottom of the first, he fouled back-to-back pitches off his lower left leg before he was retired on a foul popup.
Athletics manager Bob Melvin said after the contest that Chapman is day-to-day.
Chapman is batting .279 with 22 homers and 59 RBIs in 94 games this season.
Oakland won the contest 10-2 for its sixth straight victory.
