Highly regarded cornerback Dontae Manning announced Saturday that he decommitted from Oklahoma and will reopen his recruitment.
“I would like to start by thanking Coach Lincoln-Riley and the rest of the staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play the game I love at the next level,” Manning wrote in part on Twitter. “OU will still remain a top school of mine. But I feel the need to explore my options and take a closer look at other Universities.”
The 247Sports composite lists Manning as a four-star prospect, the No. 7 cornerback in the nation and the No. 99 overall prospect in the 2020 class.
Manning (6-foot, 185 pounds), who is from Raytown, Mo., committed to Oklahoma in April. He recently took an official visit to Texas A&M.
The Sooners have cornerback Ryan Watts and safety Bryson Washington, both four-star prospects, among the 13 commits in their 2020 class, which 247Sports ranks as the top in the Big 12 and No. 15 in the nation.
