The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals endured a rain delay of nearly three hours Monday before the game resumed in the bottom of the fifth inning in Chicago — only to have play stopped again within minutes.
It was long enough, however, for the White Sox to tie the score. When play was halted the first time with the Royals leading 1-0, the White Sox had two runners on and one out.
Yolmer Sanchez singled to drive in lead runner James McCann, and trailing runner Jose Rondon was thrown out at second base. If play resumes, Ryan Cordell will be at the plate with one runner on base for the White Sox.
