For the first time since 2021, reliever Tanner Scott will be spending time on the injured list. The Los Angeles Dodgers placed him on the 15-day IL on Tuesday with left elbow inflammation.
The Dodgers recalled reliever Alexis Diaz from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.
Scott suffered the injury Monday evening in a closing opportunity vs. the Minnesota Twins. After missing with a slider in the dirt, the lefty reliever looked uncomfortable. Manager Dave Roberts visited the mound and pulled Scott in favor of Kirby Yates. Yates earned his third save of the year in a 5-2 Dodgers victory.
It has been an inconsistent first season in LA for Scott, a 9-year veteran. He has 19 saves, but he leads the majors with seven blown saves, and his 4.14 ERA is the highest since his first season in Miami (2022, 4.31).
Scott did not allow an earned run in five postseason appearances for San Diego last season and signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Dodgers in the offseason.
Diaz, a former closer in Cincinnati, was acquired by the Dodgers in late May. He spent one day with the major league club in July but was sent back to Triple-A when Tyler Glasnow came off the injured list on July 9.
